Jonathan Raine, pianist and alumnus of the first Yellowknife Music Festival

  • Free Piano Workshop, 'Injury prevention for pianists' by Jonathan Raine

  • This lecture will cover many of the common injuries associated with playing the piano along with potential strategies for avoiding these injuries in the first place.

Having grown up in Yellowknife, Johnathan Raine began his musical studies with Ardith Dean and Anita Kuzma and was a participant in Yellowknife’s first music festival in 2009. He has since performed in many solo and collaborative recitals, including the inaugural gala concert for the Morinville Arts Centre alongside members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from the University of Western Ontario, having studied under the tutelage of Dr. Leslie Kinton. He completed his Master’s of Music at McGill University under Dr. Stéphane Lemelin and his Bachelor of Music at the University of Alberta’s Augustana Campus with Dr. Milton Schlosser.
